[I am shamelessly going to reuse what I already wrote about this picture. The German word for Love is “Liebe” by the way and this part of the Quran looks very much like that word.]

Usually I am not too bad with words but sometimes, especially when I travel, there are so many impressions that I soak up like a sponge that it becomes a challenge to process all of them. I think it will still take time but I can safely say: LOVE is a huge part of this. For life, for the people of this country, for all the fellow travelers (see bonus picture), for everyone following this adventure from wherever in the world, for all the supporters at home, for my friends and family and just in general for every soul in this world. I believe love is not an action. It’s a state of being. It’s always present but sometimes we forget how to tap into that state.

Random sequences of events like today make traveling so much fun. “Oh, you know a guy who drives a Van through Iran and he’s going to a meetup for Van drivers? Ok, cool. Let’s go” If you are a hitchhiker that sounds like a dream but if I’ve learned one thing it’s: best to keep expectations low. Because you may very well find yourself at an event of the local VW-Club, where there are exactly 0 other overland travelers. At least we didn’t get shot trying to jump the fence to get to the supposed location. Always look on the bright side I guess. 🤷🏻‍♂️

The truth is, I have probably spent way too much time in this beautiful city. I feel too comfortable. I randomly meet people that I already know, when I cross Naqsh-e-Jahan Square. But the view of the entrance of Shah Mosque does not get old. And being approached by the same people to visit their carpet or jewelry store for the 7th time still makes me smile. One thing is for sure, part of my soul will stay here, in this magical place. It’s called Isfahan, half of the world for a reason, I guess.
