Als Fotograf durfte ich dieses besondere Wochenende begleiten und die einzigartigen Momente auf und neben der Tanzfläche festhalten. Die Bilder zeigen die intensive Atmosphäre der Workshops, die Konzentration beim Lernen neuer Moves und die pure Freude beim gemeinsamen Tanzen während der Partys.

Entstanden ist eine Sammlung authentischer Eindrücke voller Emotion, Bewegung und Begegnung – Momente, in denen Musik, Rhythmus und Menschen zu einer gemeinsamen Erfahrung verschmelzen.

Im Mittelpunkt stand eine außergewöhnliche Inszenierung: Schülerinnen und Schüler der Modeschule Graz wurden in Mode und Haltung jener Jahrzehnte fotografiert, aus denen die teilnehmenden Oldtimer stammen. Vom eleganten Charleston-Look der 1920er bis zu den schwungvollen Petticoats der 1950er – jedes Outfit spiegelte die Ära des jeweiligen Fahrzeugs wider. Die detailverliebten Kleidungsstücke und Accessoires – darunter Hüte, Handschuhe und Taschen – entstanden in den Werkstätten steirischer Schneidermeister:innen, die ihr handwerkliches Können in zeitgenössische Modekunst verwandelten.

Friday, 21st of July
We have arrived in rainy Dharamshala and immediately this town leaves a unique impression on me. Maybe it’s the fact that the Dalai Lama lives here in exile ever since Tibet was annexed by China in the 50s. Maybe it’s the Buddhist influences that you can sense everywhere. Maybe it’s just the energy in the air. Who knows. Schmidi and I go exploring and between fog (See Bonus Video) monkeys and hills we find a flag temple just as it starts to pour down rain. (See bonus pic) Up there it’s just monkeys, a cow and some monks who supposedly live here in a vow of silence.

Saturday, 22nd of July
We decide to get up to join a drop-in meditation session held at @tushitameditationcentre today, We practice forgiveness. „Forgiveness starts with ourself“, the meditation instructor solemnly says. A thought worth thinking about. And something that I’m definitely still improving in. The biggest distraction are the monkeys outside the window and the ruckus they cause. I can tell how easy it is for my core to form a connection with this place. A feeling that just gets backed up by the serene vibes at the Dalai Lama Temple (See Bonus Video) and the beautiful nature all around us

Sunday, 23rd of July
After a much wilder night out than expected, it is almost finally time to say farewell to Schmidi, my travel companion for almost 6 weeks. The goodbye is short because I am just returning from a little trip. Literally. Fate had given me psychoactive mushrooms a few days before and I felt like here was the perfect place to take them. And I was correct. „the Earth is dancing. Breathing. Alive. It’s beautiful!“ The universe finds a way to surprise me as I follow my instincts. And get rewarded with another experience that I simply can’t believe to be a coincidencde. (See bonus pic)

Tuesday, 18th of July
The first daylight impressions of Amritsar are hot and hectic. (See Bonus Video) You can tell that we are staying in the touristic Center Close to Amritsars most famous sight: the Golden Temple. Of course, @schmidi_999 and I check out the most important religious sight for members of the Sikh faith as well. A lot here is based on community and volunteering. For example the worlds largest community kitchen, where everyone can get a free meal. Regardless their faith, heritage or social background. The essence of volunteering, so of course we help out as well (See Bonus Video) Some things have not changed: people are predominantly very friendly, many people ask us for pictures together and we sweat A LOT!

Wednesday, 19th of July
As always, when entering a new country, I have to take care of the „essentials“. Which in the case of a traveling story teller means getting access to money as well as the internet. Entering a country with neither is not advised as it will be a challenge to acquire one without another. Luckily there are always helpful locals around, such as this gentleman who points me in the right direction for the next ATM. This gentleman sells cold refreshments. Something that has very much become an „essential“ over the last couple of months. I put essentials in quotation marks because what is really essential? What are the bare necessities? Enough energy to survive? A roof above your head? Something that not everyone in Amritsar has.

Thursday, 20th of July
With only 10 days in India I am going to move rather quickly and head on towards the north of India. Other travelers have told be about how nice Dharamshala is, so I decide to head there next. Schmidi spontaneously decides to come with which makes India the 3rd country we hitchhike together in. Our first ride of the today (not counting the Rikshaw ride – see bonus video) are 3 police officers from Punjab. Friendly and helpful, as they are supposed to be.

The A in August stands for adventure of a lifetime. 

Recap? 3 crazy weeks in Korea, including (but not limited to) an evacuation because of a typhoon, sweating on the dancefloor, Pocari sweat intravenous to make up for that and overall an unforgettable World Scout Jamboree.

followed by a week in Italy and since a few days I’ve been home enjoying time with the family.

Thursday 15th of July
@schmidi_999 doesn’t feel like doing much and is busy so I go out to explore surroundings in Lahore. In my finest traditional outfit I find the courage for having dinner by myself (See Bonus pic). Something that I haven’t been confident enough for a long time. When the waiter hears my accent he’s very surprised. „I thought you were Pashtun. You look like a boy from Hunza valley“, he says. What a compliment

Friday, 16th of July
We take our last day in Pakistan to explore the old historic district of Lahore. After visiting the Wazir Khan Mosque (See Bonus pic) we visit Lahore Fort. There’s plenty of historic sites that attract a lot of tourists, both domestic and international. People come to enjoy time with their families as well as sightseeing. From afar I see these two gentlemen taking a break from walking around in the heat. In almost perfect synchronicity. 

Saturday, 17th of July
It’s time for the long awaited border crossing between Pakistan and India. From Lahore we get a taxi to the border and after meeting the arguably worlds talkest border patrol officer (See Bonus pic) we successfully sweat our way across the border. We stick around in order to see the famous ceremony to lower the flags. To be honest an odd display of patriotism on both sides. Where soldiers from Pakistan and India perform a rehearsed choreography together. At least there is handshake in the end (See bonus pic). Borders… definitely a concept worth thinking about.
