Amoo Ghodrat is the owner of the touristic camel mill in the Varzaneh desert. Back in the day camels were used to run the mill. Today, of course, there are much more effective ways. The camels supposedly only move when Amoo Ghodrat starts singing. He’s a kind soul and wants to pass on this hat to me that he received as a gift. I kindly refuse.😂

An unforgettable night in the desert followed by a visit to out-of-this-world Ghoortan Citadel (see bonus pictures) Shifting my perspective. On life, on people, on my own experience and reality. I was born with glasses of a White male from Central Europe. But those glasses only allow me to see a fractal of our shared reality. By traveling I get to try on new glasses. I get to shed off my personal blinders. I get to shift my perspective. And I truly believe nothing can substitute the lived experience. The unforgettableness. Out of this world.

Still waters run deep. And Mr. Ferhat is living proof of how deep. When he stops for us in Shahreza he first asks us for money. With some help of a local he agrees to take us to Shiraz for free. With a kind hue of a smile on his face. His demeanor is almost stoic. And I’m sure even if he spoke English he wouldn’t talk much. After a heartfelt conversation with my travelbuddy @schmidi_999 9 I ask him, who he talks to about his feelings. And then we go deep: He turns the questions back to us. What does your inner child want? What spirit animal is in you? The inner child wants to be loved and accepted as it is. The bear is for sure my spirit animal. Or is it a swallow? According to Mr. Ferhat we are all at once. Sometimes the sheep and sometimes the wolf. Sometimes the rabbit sometimes the snake. But certainly always a little bit of bear.
